ADEN, Aug. 12 (YPA) – Local sources in Lahj have reported power outages for second consecutive day, with warnings that electricity generation in Aden may cease in the coming hours.
Residents of Lahj have noted that the power has been out for two days and are questioning when the fuel for the power station will arrive.
Additionally, sources indicate that power stations in Aden have stopped functioning due to a five-day interruption in crude oil supplies from Safer to the PetroMasila station.
The remaining diesel-power stations have only a limited amount of fuel, which will not last until the arrival of the fuel shipment expected on August 20.
Aden and other southern provinces, including Hadramout districts, are experiencing a near total breakdown of power services.
This comes despite promises over the years to improve electricity services, with $2 million a day allocated to power stations in Aden alone, according to statements made by Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak in May.
