New Deputy Head of UNMHA arrives in Yemen

HODEIDA, July 15 (YPA) – The United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) announced on Monday the arrival of its new Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Mari Yamashita of Japan.

The mission said in a statement on its website that Yamashita arrived in Hodeida on July 2, 2024, after meetings with counterparts in Aden and Sanaa, and courtesy calls with the diplomatic community in Amman.

The statement added that the UN official, who has extensive experience in preventive diplomacy, peacebuilding, and political affairs, will play a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of the Hodeida agreement and promoting lasting peace in Yemen.
