Saudi Arabia release 9 fishermen after kidnapping from Yemeni territorial waters

HODEIDA, June 09 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia released nine Yemeni fishermen after several months of kidnapping and torture in its prisons.

The fishermen explained when they arrived at the fish landing center in the Salif district that a Saudi Navy patrol kidnapped them and took them to its prisons in the area of Jizan, under force of arms.

They reported that the Saudi patrol used provocative and humiliating methods against them, raised weapons against them, and confiscated the quantities of catch in their possession that they had caught during several days of the fishing trip, in addition to sums of money imposed on them and they were forced to pay it during the prison period.

The released fishermen confirmed that they were subjected to various types of torture and ill-treatment.
