Saudi Arabia arrests woman for hugging singer on stage, accusing her of harassment

SANAA, July 15 (YPA) –  Security services in Saudi  Arabia on Friday arrested a Saudi fan girl who jumped on stage to hug the Iraqi singer Majid al-Muhandis, referring her to the public prosecution to face charges under the law criminalizing harassment.

“The girl is being held at the Al-Taif Foundation for Women’s Care pending investigation,” the Mecca police official spokesman said.

According to the lawyer and adviser, Morad al-Sobeh, he said that the action carried by the girl considered as a “sexual harassment case” with full pillars.

The act done by the girl, is a harassment act, based on article 1 of the anti-harassment laws issued the Royal decree “, pointing out that the law requires the referral of the accused after the completion of the arrest procedure to the Public Prosecutor’s Office during 24 hours; The Okaz newspaper quoted the Subeh as saying.

According to article 6 of the anti-harassment law, the accused will face a penalty of up to two years ‘ imprisonment and a fine of  100 thousand, the newspaper added.
