Registration of presidential election candidates begins in Iran

TEHRAN, May 30 (YPA) – The process of registering candidates for the presidential elections in Iran began Thursday morning and will continue until June 6.

The process of registering candidates began from eight in the morning until six in the afternoon, for a period of five days, to then determine who qualified and met the necessary conditions.

The country’s 14th presidential election will be held on June 28.

At present, the First Vice President of the Republic, Mohamed Mokhber, holds the position of acting president after the martyrdom of President Ebrahim Raisi along with his accompanying delegation on Sunday, May 19, in the accident of their helicopter crash due to bad weather conditions in the Varzagan region of East Azerbaijan Province, northwest of Iran.
