GAZA, March 14 (YPA) -The number of casualties among employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza has reached 165 people after the Israeli occupation bombed a food distribution center in the city of Rafah on Wednesday.
Stephane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, stated that this number represents the highest number of casualties among any international agency recorded so far in any conflict.
Dujarric explained that the Israeli forces specifically notified the coordinates of all the remaining distribution centers in the sector yesterday, but they targeted it despite the famine experienced in some areas of Gaza.
“Our colleagues in UNRWA informed us that at least one employee died and 22 were injured when Israel targeted food distribution centers in eastern Rafah, south of the sector,” he said.
He added, “UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said that the attack on one of the very few remaining UNRWA distribution centers in the Gaza Strip comes as food supplies are running out, hunger is widespread and, in some areas, turning into famine.”
