Sanaa provides updates on recent developments in submarine cables situation

SANAA, March 05 (YPA) – The Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology in Sanaa, Misfer Al-Numair, said on Tuesday that Yemen is in constant and daily contact with international submarine cable companies in the Red Sea regarding the repair of cables.

Al-Numair confirmed in a press statement on Tuesday that Sanaa’s readiness to provide all support and facilities to repair the cables.

“The International Submarine Cables Company announced the interruption of three submarine cables, and its announcement lacked professionalism regarding who caused the submarine cables to be interrupted,” he said.

The Minister of Telecommunications denied the accusations of the Zionist entity’s media, stressing that “the hostile media’s statements were inconsistent with the truth.”

Al-Numair pointed out that the new dangers in the Red Sea are a result of the American-British aggression against Yemen and international navigation.
He emphasized the importance of coordination with the Yemeni government in Sanaa to repair submarine cables in the Red Sea.

The minister stated that the Yemeni government has three new marine cable projects and is continuing to follow up on them and coordinate to bring ships into the Red Sea to deliver the cable branches to the port of Hodeida. He attributed the delay of these projects to arbitrary measures, the unjust blockade, and the prevention of Yemen from exploiting its cables since 2015.

Al-Numair said, “The Yemeni citizen suffers from the deterioration of communications services as a result of the aggression’s attack on the service infrastructure.”
