Citizen killed in tribal clashes of Shabwa

SHABWA, Feb. 29 (YPA) – A citizen was killed by on Wednesday tribal gunmen in the Habban district of the oil-rich province of Shabwa in eastern Yemen.

Sources familiar with the matter reported that armed confrontations broke out between tribal militants in Wadi Huda of the district due to a dispute over land border.

Shabwa tribes accused the pro-UAE authorities of fueling tribal rebellions during the past months with the collapse of various basic services in electricity, health and water.

The province’s districts, where approximately 17 brigades of UAE-funded factions are deployed, has been witnessed unprecedented security chaos without taking any measures to maintain security and social peace among the tribes.

Local observers believe that the faction’s leaders are working to support the tribal sheikhs loyal to them with money, weapons and ammunition for imposing their influence on various areas.

They stressed that the support of the tribal sheikhs comes in the context of confronting Saudi military expansions to deploy the so-called Dare al-Watan forces’ factions in some areas of the provinces during the coming months.
