WORLD, Feb. 27 (YPA) – Israeli film director Yuval Abraham stated that he has been receiving death threats since his participation in the Berlin festival, in which he spoke about the occupation’s practice of apartheid and the oppression of Palestinians.
“Our film “No Other Land” on occupied Masafer Yatta’s brutal expulsion won best documentary in Berlinale. Israel’s channel 11 aired this 30 second segment from my speech, insanely called it “anti semitic” – and I’ve been receiving death threats since. I stand behind every word,” Abraham said in a post on his X account.
He added, “ Me and Basel are the same age. I am Israeli, Basel is Palestinian and in two days we will go back to a land where we are not equal. I am living under civilian law and Basel is under military law.”
The documentary film “No Other Land,” directed by a group of Palestinian filmmakers in addition to Abraham, won the award for Best Documentary at the Berlin International Film Festival.
The film depicts Palestinian displacement from a village in the occupied West Bank amid illegal Israeli settlers’ violence and army raids.
Director Basel Adra, who participated in directing the film, called on the German authorities to change their policy towards the occupation and Gaza and to support the United Nations’ appeals.
