UN Security Council to meet Friday to consider Yemen sanctions

SANAA, Oct. 11 (YPA) – The UN Security Council will hold a closed session on Friday to follow up on developments in the situation in Yemen.

A statement issued by the Security Council stated that the session will be of a “closed” consultative nature and will be chaired by Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, alongside Edem Wosornu, Director of OCHA’s Operations and Advocacy Division, in addition to the head of the United Nations mission to support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA), Major General Michael Perry.

The United Nations committee responsible for monitoring the sanctions imposed on Yemen under UN Resolution 2140 is scheduled to present to the Security Council next Friday the experts’ report in this regard, which is the same day that the United Nations Military Committee will hold its meeting at the United Nations headquarters.
