Tribal proxy conflict between Saudi Arabia, UAE erupted in Hadramout

ADEN, Oct. 01 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia and the UAE are locked in a struggle over tribal leadership in the Wadi Hadramout districts in eastern Yemen, following the failure of announcing the “Hadramout Council,” which was announced in Riyadh last June.

Hadramout’s tribes refused to appoint a local notable loyal to the Emirates called “Salem bin Mubarak bin Omar bin Sumaida, as “sheikh, without its knowledge.

Leader of the Batis tribe, Abdullah bin Juman bin Ali Batis, confirmed in a statement that the “Al Ali” tribe in Harida district in the middle of Wadi Hadramout, which includes tribes of “Al Sumaida, Al Batis, and Al Saad,” refused to appoint “Bin Sumaida.”

In a statement, which was published by the editor-in-chief of the “Sawt Hadramout” newspaper, Majed Al-Kathiri, in his post on the “X” platform, stated that Ibn Sumaida has no right to speak or represent the tribes before any official or tribal body, calling on the Hadramout tribes not to deal with him as a leader of the tribe.
