Saudi-Emirati race for Socotra under banner of humanitarian work

SOCOTRA, Sept. 20 (YPA) -There is a Saudi-Emirati race on the strategic island of Socotra, local sources said on Wednesday.

According to the sources, the Saudi Arabia and the UAE are intensifying their activities on the Island these days under the banner of humanitarian work.

Saudi Arabia has created new roads linking its base at Hadibo airport with camps and sites that Saudi Arabia is planning to establish in the coming period on the islands of the archipelago, especially on the Socotra port.

According to the sources, the construction of roads adopted by the Saudi Center for Reconstruction is carried out in remote and depopulated areas, which indicates that they are part of special arrangements for the Saudi agenda militarily.

Saudi activity comes in parallel with raging Emirati activity.

An Emirati ship known as “Takreem” unloaded a new shipment of equipment and machinery for the construction of a military airport on the neighboring island of Abd al Kuri.

Although Emirati media have tried to show that the new shipment contains humanitarian aid, but local sources have said that the shipment flown to the island of Abd al Kuri, which is already depopulated.

Media outlets published satellite images showing the UAE intensifying the construction of a runway on the island of Abd al Kuri.

Socotra has the most important strategic location on the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea.

Socotra is witnessing an escalation in the pace of new activity in conjunction with the approval of the new economic line, which connects India with Europe through Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and the Yemeni island is located at the most important areas of this line.
