STC launches campaign of arrests against Al-Sabiha tribes’ sheikhs in Lahj
LAHJ, Aug. 26 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) launched on Saturday a massive campaign of arrests against a number of sheikhs and notables of Al-Sabiha tribes in Lahj province, southern Yemen.
Activists reported that Brigadier General Nasher Muhammad Ali, security director of Karish and al-Qabita districts, was arrested on orders from Lahj’s security director, Hussein al-Junaidi “Abu Aref”.
According to the activists, Brigadier General Nasher is still in prison without revealing the reason, amid Abu Aref’s refusal to even talk about the matter directly.
This comes hours after the commander of the “Fourth Military Region” loyal to the Saudi-eld coalition, Fadhl Hassan, arrested Sheikh Sadiq Al-Suwaidi, the sheikh of the Al-Suwaidi tribe in Al-Sabiha, after summoning him to Al-Anad Air Base against the backdrop of his criticism of Fadhl Hassan and accusing him of financial corruption and looting of allowances and salaries of recruits.
