HADRAMOUT, Aug 21 (YPA) – A number of land transport companies in Aden confirmed that they have been subjected to extortion by checkpoints of the so-called Transport Authority loyal to the Saudi-led coalition forces on the Al-Abr road in Hadramout.
According to media sources, transport companies, including Al-Nour, Al-Nawras, and Al-Emprator, complained about the procedures such as deliberately not receiving the data of passengers and customers of companies, in order to obtain permission to leave, by “closing the ministries system” and preventing communication with the authority’s operations.
“These practices incurred buses of transport companies levies under several names amounting to 400,000 riyals per bus. The bus driver might be imprisoned if he did not obtaining a permission, while passenger data is not received to obtain permission to leave. This mood and arrogance practices increase when they informed the pro-coalition Minister of Transport about these practices, according to the complaints.
The complaints indicated that the practices aim to harm the reputation of transport companies, by imposing fines on their drivers and forcibly disembarking passengers from the company’s customers.
In their complaints, the companies called on pro- coalition government to release their detained buses and recover the amounts imposed on them by force.
