Power outage increases in Aden as coalition’s authorities ignore citizens’ complaints

ADEN, Aug 15 (YPA) – – Local residents in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden, have complained of the collapse of electricity service in the city, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition’s factions.

According to local sources, the hours of power outages in Aden increased to 16 hours during the past hours.

The power outage has doubled the suffering of people, especially the elderly and children, in conjunction with the summer season as record temperatures hit the city of Aden.

Over the past weeks, the Aden Electricity Corporation has repeatedly appealed to the coalition authority to provide it with the necessary fuel, but to no avail.

The residents called on the concerned authorities to move immediately to solve this problem. They held the coalition and its factions responsible for this crisis.

On Monday, hundreds of citizens protested in the center of Al-Mualla area and set fire to damaged tires in the middle of the main streets after the electricity was cut off, indicating that the fire closed traffic in front of citizens’ cars.

According to the sources, members of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions worked to disperse the protests by force of arms after clashes with the protesters.
