Sanaa gov’t addresses int’l community to cancel embargo on Sanaa airspace

SANAA, Aug 09 (YPA) – Sanaa’s Salvation Government called on Wednesday the international community to cancel the embargo imposed on the Sanaa airspace.

This came in letters written by Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sanaa, Hisham Sharaf, to a number of foreign ministers of brotherly and friendly countries, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, its representative in Yemen, in addition to the representative of foreign affairs in the European Union, the secretaries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the League of Arab States, and the Cooperation Council for the Gulf States.

The minister indicated that the continued measures taken by the coalition countries, to classify the Sanaa airspace as a dangerous and insecure area, will lead to the continuation of the blockade imposed on Sanaa Airport, and doubling the suffering of the Yemeni citizen, in a way that is not compatible with the ongoing efforts to bring Sanaa and Riyadh closer.

Sharaf called for cancelling previous circulars and communications and issue new circulars emphasizing the safety and security of the Sanaa air region, which will open the way for foreign and Arab airlines wishing in working to and from Sanaa International Airport, in a way that contributes to mitigating the repercussions of the war, the comprehensive blockade, and addressing an important humanitarian aspect.
