Judges in Aden city announce general strike

ADEN, July. 24 (YPA) – Judges in in the city of Aden began on Sunday a comprehensive strike protest against its continued refusal to approve a budget for the judiciary.

General Syndicate of Members of the Judicial Authority announced that it had embarked on a comprehensive strike in various judicial institutions in Aden, until its demands for the financial and administrative independence of the judiciary were implemented.

The judicial Authority in the coalition-controlled areas have been witnessed continuous crises and strikes, amid accusations against the pro-coalition government and the Saudi-formed Presidential Leadership Council, led by Rashad al-Alimi, of targeting the judiciary and seizing its budget.

Last week, the Syndicate issued a statement that it would implement a comprehensive strike in all facilities and departments of the judiciary, to carry out and achieve the legitimate human rights demands of the administrative staff.

According to the union’s statement, the demands are the implementation of the medical insurance decision, the adjustment of the structure and wages according to exchange rates, the independence of the administrative staff, the implementation of judge rulings related to the housing association, and other demands related to improve salaries.
