Sanaa accuses Security Council of prolonging war on Yemen

SANAA, July. 11 (YPA) – The Sanaa government accused on Tuesday the Security Council of prolonging the war and the blockade on Yemen.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Sanaa, Hussein Al-Ezzi, commented on the Security Council session held on Monday on Yemen, saying, “António Guterres’ envoy does not have the authority to bring peace to Yemen because he is still bound by references calling for surrender.”

Al-Ezzi said on Twitter on Tuesday that “the UN envoy to Yemen cannot lead negotiations leading to stopping the war in Yemen,” because whoever leads the war on the other side is not within its negotiating competence.

“It is better for the Security Council to remain silent, because it is the one that prolongs the war and the blockade on Yemen.”
