ABYAN, June 22 (YPA) – A senior leader in the UAE-funded armed factions was killed on Thursday and 7 bodyguards were wounded in Abyan province, southern Yemen.
“The Staff of the 3rd Battalion in the 3rd Support Brigade, Jaber Al-Fahha Al-Yafe’i, was targeted in an explosion that targeted his military vehicle with an explosive device in Al-Jaza area of Mudiya district,” informed sources said.
The explosive devices killed dozens of leaders and recruits of the factions affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the districts of Mudiya and Ahwar of Abyan, following the announcement of the so-called “Arms of East” operation by the STC to combat terrorist elements in the districts of Abyan in August of last year.
The confrontations gained a regional dimension after the STC brought in a number of military brigades from Dhalea and Yafaa in Lahj to various districts of Abyan due to the raids on the homes of the tribes in a number of areas under the pretext of harboring terrorist elements.
