MUSCAT, June 05 (YPA) – The UN special envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, arrived on Sunday in the Omani capital, Muscat, as part of his efforts to strengthen diplomatic efforts to bring peace to Yemen.
Grundberg said that this visit came in the context of his contacts and meetings with the Yemeni parties and concerned international organizations, with the goal of finding political solutions to the ongoing conflict in the country.
“The situation in Yemen is still tragic, and that international efforts must continue to end the war and reach a political solution that meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people and guarantees stability in the region,” he added.
Grundberg’s visit to Muscat came within the framework of a series of meetings he holds with the concerned Yemeni and international parties to achieve consensus and coordination between the various parties to reach political solutions to the Yemeni crisis.
Earlier in the day, the envoy noted on Twitter that he met today with senior Omani officials and the head of the Sanaa negotiating delegation, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, confirming that he had submitted proposals related to improving living conditions in reference to the payment of salaries.
He also indicated that the new formula including proposals for a nationwide ceasefire and an UN-sponsored inclusive process for the transition to sustainable peace in Yemen.
