Picture of Socotra Island wins international award
SANAA, June 03 (YPA) – The Milky Way Photographer of the Year 2023 award was won by a picture of the Yemeni island of Socotra Archipelago.
Late last week, “Capture the Atlas” announced the winners of the Milky Way Photographer Competition for the sixth year, who captured the most beautiful scenes around the world in the night sky, for various places ranging from the remote deserts of Socotra, Madagascar, Atacama, and Namibia to the lost landscapes of Patagonia, Australia, and New Zealand.
The prize was won by the American photographer of Lebanese origin, “Benjamin Barakat,” as part of the Milky Way Photographer of the Year awards for his photo that he took of the Milky Way behind one of the rare trees of the Socotra archipelago, “The Gate of the Bottle Tree.”
Photographer Barakat commented on his photo, saying: “The Gate of the Bottle Tree.” “I took this photo during my annual photographic trip to Socotra.”
