Young man drowns in dam in Sanaa province

SANAA, April 27 (YPA) – A young man  drowned on Wednesday while trying to swim in the Shahik Dam in Jahana district, Sanaa governorate.

The diving and rescue teams affiliated with Civil Defense Authority were able to recover the body of Murad Ahmed Saleh, 32, from the Shahik Dam in Sana’a Governorate.

Murad drowned while trying to swim in the dam, despite repeated warning calls over loudspeakers, but there was disregard by citizens and non-compliance with the instructions issued by the authority.

Several provinces in Yemen have been witnessing rains  for days, and with it the barriers and water dams were filled, which caused the registration of drowning deaths as a result of trying to swim in those dams and water barriers that are not suitable for swimming.

The authority renewed its call on  citizens and parents to take responsibility and attention to their children to abide by instructions and  not to swim in dams and waterfalls in order to preserve their lives.
