Saudi Arabia brings Islah’s military leaders to Shabwa

SHABWA, March 09 (YPA) – The Islah militia began on Thursday, , to return its members to Shabwa province, which is under the control of the UAE-affiliated militias.

Local sources said this step by Islah Party was at Saudi behest.

This came a day after Rashad Al-Alimi, a head of the “Riyadh-formed Presidential Council,” met with the military leaders opposing the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council. While Abd Rabbo Lakab, the former commander of the so-called “Special Security Forces” and who appeared in Riyadh wearing the military uniform of the Saudi-backed Nation Shield Forces, was suddenly summoned to Riyadh.

According to the sources, groups of “so-called Special Security Forces” militias, which fled from Shabwa and settled in Marib at the end of 2021, have begun to return to the Jardan district, adjacent to the Ataq district, the provincial capital of Shabwa, in a military build-up, the second in less than a week.

The sources expected that Riyadh would return the Islah forces to Shabwa under the cover of the so-called “National Shield Forces,” especially after the news confirmed Riyadh’s appointment of Abed Rabbo Lakab a commander to these forces, which Riyadh recently established as an alternative to the militias affiliated with the Emirates in the areas that coalition’s control over.
