STC launches attack on Al-Alimi

ADEN, Feb. 24 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) launched a scathing attack on the head of the Riyadh-Formed  Presidential Council, Rashad al-Alimi, stating that “the southern issue does not accept deportation and postponement.”

The STC’s official spokesman, Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, stressed that Al-Alimi’s statements to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper are inaccurate, and do not indicate seriousness of what he called “the partnership and consensuses that emerged from the consultations of the Gulf Cooperation Council.”

Al-Kathiri said in a statement published on the “STC” website, on Friday: “The southern issue does not accept deportation and postponement, and it will never be so, but it is clearly defined in the outputs of Riyadh’s consultations.”

He added that the agreement was made to include the southern issue in the agenda of negotiations to stop the war, to develop a negotiating framework for it, and through it will determine what they call the “form of state”.

The STC accused the Al-Alimi Council of obstructing “the issuance of the decision to form the joint negotiating delegation, which was agreed upon, which is concerned with negotiating the form of the state and the political system for the transitional period and the required guarantees.”

The STC spokesman pointed out that the procrastination in implementing the commitments contained in the “outcomes of the GCC consultations” represent dangerous indicators that do not serve the future of the partnership and the political process as a whole.
