Death toll from devastating earthquake in Turkey, Syria rises to 43,884

WORLD, Feb. 17 (YPA) – The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Syria and Turkey has risen on Friday evening, to 43,884 deaths, in an ongoing toll.

Official sources announced that the death toll from the earthquake that struck Syria had risen to 5,840 deaths, and the toll is likely to increase.

According to the latest Turkish official data on Friday evening, the number of deaths from the earthquake had risen to 38, 44 people.

The affected areas witnessed 4,734 aftershocks following the earthquake that occurred on February 6.

More than 29,000 rescuers from Turkey, assisted by more than 11,000 rescuers from other countries, continue search and rescue operations.

According to the sources, more than 172,000 tents have been set up to temporarily shelter the earthquake victims.
