Sanaa airport director reveals number of commercial flights over war on Yemen
SANAA, Jan. 16 (YPA) – Director General of Sanaa International Airport revealed the movement of the Airport throughout the years of the Saudi-led coalition’s war on Yemen.
Khaled Al-Shayef, the director general of airport, said in a news statement on Monday that the number of commercial flights to and from Sanaa Airport for 8 years has not exceeded 1,276 flights, compared to 20,000 flights during 2014 only.
He that the number is not equal to the movement of only two months in the normal situation in 2014.
Al-Shayef pointed out that the number of passengers since that has not been exceeded 162,000 passengers, compared to 1.9 million passengers in the year 2014.
He explained that the amount of air freight over the years of war has not reached 721 tons, compared to 16,177 tons during the year of 2014.
The statement stressed that Sanaa Airport received in 2014 daily about 50 flights for 14 carrier companies, and 5 thousand passengers round-trip daily .
