Mass rally in Saada condemns US-backed Saudi-led coalition’s siege

SAADA, Jan. 06 (YPA) – Thousands of Yemeni citizens in Saada province, northern Yemen took streets on Friday morning to condemn the US-backed Saudi-led coalition blockade on Yemen under the slogan “the siege is war”.

The participants in the rally chanted slogans expressing their anger towards the US economic blockade on the Yemeni People, blaming the coalition for the continuation of the blockade.

The governor of Saada Governorate Mohammad Jaber Awad delivered a speech in which he emphasized that the protest today expresses rejection of the state of no war nor peace with the continuation of the aggression and the air and sea blockade on Yemen, and a mandate for the leadership to take the appropriate decision.

He stressed that the Armed Forces, Rocketry Force, and Air Force imposed a new reality and are ready to impose new options. “They cannot allow the continuation of the looting of our country’s oil and gas wealth.”

“Our people know who killed their sons and who practiced slow killing and besieged ports and airports,” Awad said.

He considered that the blockade and the closure of airports and ports are more severe than war and bombs, stressing readiness for any decision taken by the leadership, peace or war.

Statement issued by the rally, warning  the countries involved in aggression of any escalation on any front, and of the consequences of continuing the aggression and the blockade and preventing the entry of oil ships, considering that the blockade is a war that must be responded to.

The statement also warned against the continuation of closing Yemen’s airports and ports, and preventing Yemenis from their rights to obtain their salaries. It called on the Armed Forces to take an appropriate response to break the siege.

It affirmed standing with the leadership to take whatever decisions it deems appropriate to lift the blockade, calling on all Yemenis to cohesion of the home front and to beware of the division sought by the enemies among society.

The statement stressed that Palestine is the Nation’s central cause, condemning the Zionist attacks on the Palestinians, the incursions and the Zionists’ desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque. It called for a broad Islamic position that confronts the Zionist enemy.
