Former Ukrainian official accuses Zelensky of canceling elections in Volnovakha

WORLD, Jan. 03 (YPA) – Vladimir Teslya, a former lawyer for the Ukrainian regional administration of the Volnovakha district, accused President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky of taking part in the illegal cancellation of local elections in Volnovakha.

“How did it happen that there (in Volnovakha -) elections were not held – it means that these comrades who heads of councils, district state administrations gathered in Kramatorsk wrote a letter to Zelensky about how dangerous it is to hold elections here: let’s not hold elections, but you simply appoint military-civilian administrations, ” Teslya explained .

In July 2020, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine banned local elections in the Donetsk region and the Lugansk regions not under Kiev’s control.

At the same time, regional council elections in the Kiev-controlled part of Donbas were canceled.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said the Ukrainian parliament’s decision could be interpreted as Kiev’s de facto withdrawal from the Minsk agreements.
