President praises UNICEF’s humanitarian activities in Yemen

SANAA, June 28 (YPA) – President of the Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat on Thursday praised the role of UNICEF organization and its humanitarian activities in Yemen.

This came in the meeting of the president in Sanaa with UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta H. Fore, during which they discussed the organization’s activities in alleviating the suffering of Yemeni people due to the aggression and siege.

The president affirmed that the Saudi-led aggression coalition is responsible for obstructing humanitarian activities and relief works, and even preventing the flow of medicines and medical supplies through the port of Hodeidah and Sanaa Airport.

The president confirmed keenness to provide all kinds of facilities for UNICEF to carry out its humanitarian programs in Yemen.

He urged the organization to expand its activities in proportion to the current difficult conditions experienced by the Yemeni people.

In the meeting, the UNICEF’s official expressed her thanks to the president al-Mashat for his constant support for the organization efforts and activities.

She reviewed UNICEF projects and activities in Yemen in a number of sectors, including motherhood, childhood, health, water, education and others.
