WORLD, Dec. 22 (YPA) – Germany’s Federal Office for Waterways and Shipping on Wednesday closed ship traffic in northern Germany, after a leak in a pipeline was discovered in the Kiel Canal between the Baltic and northern seas.
“Navigation is very limited and waiting times may be long between now and further notice as a result of an oil spill,” the office said.
Later, a leak was discovered from the pipeline running under the Kiel Canal in the Dithmarschen district.
The cause of the leak has not been reported and work is under way to repair it.
