ABYAN, Sept. 11 (YPA) – A booby-trapped motorbike exploded on Sunday at Abyan province, southern Yemen.
Local sources said that unidentified gunmen detonated the motorbike bomb near Al-Kour Gas Factory in Al-Ain area, near the city of Lawdar.
The sources confirmed that the attack happened near the gathering of the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia, no casualties were reported.
On the other hand, violent confrontations erupted between the “STC” and tribal gunmen accused of belonging to al-Qaeda elements, in Wadi Siri area of Khobar al-Maraqsha area in the same province.
Last Thursday, 35 armed men of the STC militia were killed or wounded in an attack carried out by armed elements believed to belong to Al-Qaeda in Ahwar district of Abyan, while the UAE militia announced the killing of 7 of the attackers and the arrest of 2 others, who are holding the Saudi citizenship.
