SANAA, Sept. 07 (YPA) – The Minister of Industry and Trade in Sanaa government, Muhammad al-Mutahar, on Wednesday directed the suspension of three directors of the Yemen Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control Organization (YSMO)’s departments from work and referring them to investigation for failing in their duties and committing violations.
In a meeting with the YSMO leadership, Al-Mutahar stressed the prevention of the entry of prohibited products that do not conform to specifications and standards, and the exercise of the Organization’s functions and competencies in accordance with the law.
He confirmed the keenness to strengthen the YSMO’s role in examining everything that enters the country and providing health, economic and environmental protection for the country and the citizen.
The Minister of Industry also urged strengthening cooperation between the YSMO and its offices in the capital Sanaa and the provinces, and closing the stores of merchants who sell fraudulent goods that are harmful to health and the environment.
