SANAA, Aug. 10 (YPA) – At least five houses were collapsed and more than 40 houses were damaged in the old city of Sanaa, in the capital, as a result of continued heavy rainfall since last night and today.
The director of the old city of Sanaa directorate, Mahdi Arhab, told the Yemeni news agency (Saba) that five houses were completely collapsed and roofs of 18 houses collapsed, while 22 houses suffered water leaks.
He pointed out that tarpaulins provided by the Yemen Red Crescent through the emergency committee of the secretariat, were distributed to the most damaged homes.
Arhab He reported that 380 houses had been damaged, some of them on the average of collapse in the old city, as a result of heavy rainfall over the past two weeks.
He called on the General Authority for the Preservation of Historic Cities to carry out its responsibility, as it is the concerned body with the restoration and maintenance of houses in the Old city of Sanaa.
