WORLD, Jun.06 (YPA) – French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire confirmed On Sunday that his country is in talks with the UAE to compensate for Russian oil purchases, after the European Union decided to impose a partial ban on oil imports from Russia.
According to the According to AFP, Le Maire said that there are ongoing discussions with the UAE regarding the supply of oil and diesel, and added, “We have to find an alternative to Russian oil.”
Le Maire indicated that France needs to increase investment in order to speed up the transition to hydrocarbon-free energy, such as accelerating the deployment of offshore wind farms, to enhance the country’s energy independence.
On Friday, the European Union formally approved the sixth package of sanctions against Russia as part of the sixth package of Western sanctions against Moscow.
