U.S. calls on Saudi Arabia to lift travel ban on women’s rights activists

SANAA, March 08 (YPA) – The United States called on its Saudi ally on Tuesday to lift the travel ban and other restrictions imposed on the released women’s rights activists.

Michèle Taylor, the US ambassador to the United Nations Human Rights Council, called on the kingdom to resolve the cases of “prisoners of conscience,” a term often used to refer to political prisoners.

Taylor said in a speech to the Geneva Forum on March 8, is International Women’s Day.

The US ambassador did not name any political prisoners or women’s rights activists who were recently released and who are subject to travel restrictions.
