9 killed in building collapses in Tehran

TEHRAN, Feb. 17 (YPA) – At least nine people were killed and nine others injured due to the collapse of a three-storey residential building in Rabat Karim, southwest of Tehran province, an official said.

Shahin Fathi,  director general of  the Iranian Red Crescent Relief and Rescue Organization confirmed Thursday that the three-storey building collapsed due to a gas leak and an explosion of water heater, causing debris to accumulate.

He said five teams were sent to the site in cooperation with firefighters, police, rescue forces and other relief services.
