Sanaa forces control strategic areas south of Marib

MARIB, Feb. 05 (YPA) – Violent battles are taking place Saturday between Sanaa forces on one side and Saudi-led coalition forces and their loyalist factions on the other, southwest of Marib city, amid reports of dozens of dead and wounded on both sides.

Local sources in Marib told “Yemen Press Agency” that the Sanaa forces launched a large-scale military attack from their positions in the eastern “Balaq” Mountains and “Al-Faliha” area towards the sites of the coalition forces on the outskirts of Abidah valley.

After fierce battles between the two sides, the Sanaa forces managed to purify the strategic “Erg Moa’zez” area, southwest of Marib city.

The Erg Moa’zaz area has great strategic importance as it is the crossroads of major supply routes to many of the fronts south of the city, linking Al-Jouba district with Abidah valley and the eastern Balaq Mountains.
