SANAA, Nov. 13 (YPA) – A detachment of Black Sea Fleet ships had arrived at the port of Algiers to participate in the international exercise “Joint Naval Maneuvers – 2021” with the Algerian Navy, The Russian agency, Sputnik reported.
The Russian detachment included the frigate “Admiral Grigorovich”, the patrol ship “Dmitry Rogachev” and the rescue boat “SB-742” from the permanent assembly of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean Sea.
Algerian military naval vessels will participate in the exercise, including the frigate “Harad” with a helicopter on board, the training ship “Soumam”, the rescue ship “Al-Munajjid”, a patrol plane and a search and rescue helicopter.
The source stated that the exercise will continue until November 20, and the Algerian and Russian ship crews will conduct communications training, briefings on joint work, training inspection teams, a demonstration exercise on damage control, and a pre-flight conference, before the maritime phase of the exercise.
The purpose of the exercise is to work on joint actions for the navies of the two countries, to enhance security in the region. The main objectives of the exercise are to develop Russian-Algerian military cooperation, exchange experiences between fleets in performing specific tasks, and plan and coordinate joint naval training activities.
