Qatar defense minister dismisses Saudi rejection over Russian S-400 deal

SANAA, June 9 (YPA)- Qatar’s Minister of State for Defense Khalid Al Attiyah dismissed Saudi opposition to the S-400 defense deal struck with Russia, saying Qatar does not pay attention to such nonsense.

Al Attiyah said Doha is looking to gain a membership of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) which is a legitimate right, according to Doha-based Al-Jazeera TV.

“NATO appreciates Qatar’s contribution to combating terrorism, and praises its positive role in maintaining the security and stability of the region,” Al Attiyah said, adding that NATO views Qatar as a serious and reliable partner.
