Haiti earthquake’s death toll rises to 2,248

SANAA, Sept.07 (YPA) – The death toll from the August 14 earthquake in Haiti has risen to 2,248, while 329 people are still missing.

“The Haiti earthquake of August 14th killed 2,248 people and wounded  12,763 , while some 329 are still missing in the most affected three provinces by the disaster,” Haiti’s civil protection said in a statement after the completion of rescue work in the country.

An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale hit Haiti on Saturday (August 14th).

Its center 125 kilometres from the capital Port-au-Prince, and the government declared a one-month state of emergency in the country.
