SANAA, Aug. 16 (YPA) – The border clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan renewed on Monday, in the disputed region of Karabakh between the two countries.
The Armenian Ministry of Defense issued a statement published by the “Armen Press” agency, accusing the Republic of Azerbaijan of violating the ceasefire agreement between the two countries, in Nagorno-Karabakh.
“Azerbaijani border guards tried to penetrate into the territory of Armenia near Lake Su in the southern province of Syunik,” the statement added.
It said: “After violating the ceasefire by the Azerbaijani army soldiers, the Armenian armed forces confronted them and prevented them from advancing with heavy fire.”
According to the Armenian statement, a Azerbaijani soldier was killed in the clashes, but did not cause any injuries to Armenia.
