Hamas re-elects Ismail Haniyeh as its head

Islamic resistance of Hamas  has on  Monday that the movement elected Ismail Haniyeh as the head of the group and  Saleh al-Arouri as its deputy for a new four-year term.

“The Central Election Commission of the Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS) ended the supervision of the internal electoral process in all regions, which ended today with the election and formation of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas headed by Ismail Haniyeh, and his deputy, Saleh al-Arouri,” the group said in a statement.

Hamas holds its internal elections every four years, in secret circumstances, due to considerations of security pursuit by the Israeli occupation entity.
