Violent clashes erupt in Marib, commanders loyal to coalition killed

MARIB, Jun. 16 (YPA) – Marib front witnessed on Wednesday violent battles among Yemeni army’s forces from one side, coalition’s mercenaries and al-Qaeda militants from another side after attack launched by recruits of 161 brigade in al-Khanjar desert, local sources told Yemen Press Agency.

The sources said that the army and popular committees were able to repel a wide-scale attack carried out by recruits of ninth brigade of coalition’s mercenaries with fighters from al-Qaeda militants in al-Khanjar desert over the past hours.

The sources affirmed that the army and popular committees foiled another attack targeted the strategic sites that army control in Hamit al’Dyab and al-Sahida area.

The sources confirmed that coalition’s mercenaries inflicted heavy losses in lives including the commanders Bakr al-Bakili and Jameel Sabhan and Emran al-Qasimi.

The sources also pointed out that coalition’s troops carried out an arresting campaign against officers and recruits of 161 brigade who protested and demanded the dismissal of the commander Mutiaa al-Dumaini.
