Tehran says agreement has been reached during Vienna talks

TEHRAN, May 01 (YPA) – The Islamic Republic of Iran said on Saturday that it has reached during Vienna talks an agreement to lift the sanctions on the majority of individuals and entities.

“We reached an agreement to lift the sanctions on the majority of individuals and entities, and negotiations over the rest of them are still ongoing”, said Abbas Araghchi, chief Iranian nuclear negotiator and assistant foreign minister.

“According to the understanding reached so far, all sanctions should be lifted in the field of energy, banks, ports and cars,” he added.

The Iranian official pointed out that “there is a draft agreement negotiated on which delegations will carry them to their capitals for consultation.”

Araghchi pointed out that “the Vienna negotiations have reached a stage of maturity and have become more clear,” noting that “the Vienna talks are going slowly but moving forward.”

On the other hand, Araghchi affirmed that it is not possible to anticipate the date of reaching a comprehensive agreement in the Vienna negotiations.

The Iranian nuclear talks began last month in Vienna, where the remaining parties to the nuclear deal – Iran, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany – will meet in a hotel while the US delegation is staying in another.

Washington withdrew from the nuclear deal in 2018 during the administration of former President Donald Trump and re-imposed sanctions on Iran.

Tehran responded the following year by violating numerous restrictions the deal placed on its nuclear activities.
