Parliament directs gov’t to file lawsuits against coalition countries for detaining fuel ships

SANAA, March 20 (YPA) – The Parliament, in its session held Saturday and chaired by Parliament Speaker Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i, approved the report of the Development, Oil and Mineral Resources Committee on the reasons for the continued fuel crisis in the capital Sanaa and the provinces.

This came after the commitment of the government side, represented by the Minister of Oil and Minerals, to act on the recommendations of the House in this regard.

The Parliament recommended the government to file lawsuits before specialized international courts against the regimes of the Saudi-led coalition countries that are causing the detention and delaying of ships loaded with shipments of imported oil derivatives to hold responsible for the consequent catastrophic effects and suffering of the Yemeni people and losses on various levels.

The recommendations included many points about the role of the Yemeni Petroleum Company in communicating and negotiating with foreign companies to import and provide the necessary oil derivatives, provided that the Finance Ministry provides financial facilities and opens documentary credits with local or foreign banks.
