Blinken says Washington will work on denuclearization of North Korea

SANAA, March 16 (YPA) – The United States will continue to work with allies to denuclearize North Korea, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Tuesday.

Blinken made the remarks during a bilateral meeting with his Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi in Tokyo, saying his visit was aimed at reaffirming the US-Japan alliance.

Earlier, a senior administration official told Reuters that North Korea had ignored the Biden administration’s attempts to launch secret contacts with it through channels, including Pyongyang’s mission to the United Nations.

For its part, South Korea announced, on Monday, that the United States consulted with it before trying to communicate with the North.
