20 dead, 22 injured in fire in Cairo
CAIRO, March 11 (YPA) – At least 20 people were killed and 22 others were injured on Thursday in a fire that broke out at a clothing factory in Al-Obour City, Qalyubia province in northeast of the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
According to a statement published by the official page of Qalyubia province on Facebook, a fire broke out in a garment factory consisting of four floors, due to inflammable materials that contributed to the fire.
The statement indicated that 20 firefighting vehicles participated in putting off the fire, in addition to the same number of ambulances to transport the victims and the wounded.
Qalyubia province, which is part of Greater Cairo, has been a major center for the apparel industry in Egypt for decades.
