Chinese Foreign Ministry summons British ambassador

SANAA, March 10 (YPA) – Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday summoned the British ambassador to Beijing, Caroline Wilson, and handed her a formal protest over her recent publication of an “inappropriate” article on social media.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said, in a statement, that an official in the ministry’s Europe division summoned Wilson, “who lodged a protest against the background of publishing an inappropriate special article on social media.”

The ministry stressed that the British ambassador used an official platform to express “unfair feelings of dissatisfaction” with some Western media outlets that were included in the restrictive measures “due to publishing fake news and false reports.” I have intentionally neglected the pressures exerted by other countries on the Chinese media, however.

The ministry added: “The article is full of arrogance and ideological stereotypes of the so-called teacher-professor, distortion of facts and manipulation of double standards. Such behavior is inconsistent with the status of a diplomat and the tasks of the diplomatic mission.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry called on the British ambassador to rethink her duties, to remember her position, and to make more efforts to develop bilateral relations.
