US withdraws some of its forces from Iraq to Syria

DAMASCUS, Feb. 07 (YPA) – The US forces transferred a number of troops, equipment and weapons from Iraqi lands towards their military base in the city of Al-Shaddadi in the Syrian southern countryside of Hasaka.

“Three helicopters belonging to the US forces landed last night at the illegal base in Al-Shaddadi city coming from Iraq with 15 marines were on board, equipped with all their equipment, in addition to logistical equipment, ammunition and weapons,” the official Syrian news agency SANA quoted local sources as saying.

The sources said that “bringing in these weapons and equipment is part of the American occupation forces’ moves to establish new bases for them in Hasaka countryside.”

A convoy of 40 trucks loaded with weapons and logistical materials belonging to the so-called international coalition led by Washington entered its bases in Hasaka province Friday through the illegal border crossing of Al-Walid with northern Iraq.
