SANAA, Jan. 11 (YPA) – The death toll of airstrike on the southwestern Province of Nimroz in Afghanistan has risen to18, Tolo News reported, citing local Afghan authorities.
Eight children, seven women and men were among the dead, and all the victims were from the same family, said Baz Mohammad Nasir, head of the provincial council in the province.
The Afghan government is investigating an army airstrike on the southern province of Nimroz.
Relatives of the victims took the 18 bodies to the city of Zaranj, the center of the province in a protest.
Government officials confirmed the attack on Saturday night, but said today that preliminary information showed that all the dead were Taliban insurgents fighting Afghan security forces, according to Reuters.
